Detailed Info about Denmark

  • Employment type allowed: Fixed term (max 3 years) and indefinite contract
  • Work Type:37h/week
  • Probation period: Maximum 3 months
  • Background checks: Upon client request
  • Notice Period: Notice period during probation - The employer can terminate the employee employment with 14 days' notice. After probation, it depends on employee seniority
  • Employer Cost: 14.95%
  • Mandatory Benefits: The statutory holiday accrual is 12,5% + 1% bonus holiday. The 1% holiday bonus is usually paid out in May and August. Great Prayer Day Supplement 0.45%
  • Supplemental Benefits:

  • Paid Leave: 25 working days
  • Holiday year runs from 1 st Sept to 31 st August. Holiday period: Extends 16 months, from 1 September to 31 December of the following year.

· Employees have the right to take three consecutive weeks of their annual leave during the main holiday period giving at least 3 months' notice for this main holiday period. The remaining two weeks require 1 month's notice.

· The right to paid holiday is accrued at a rate of 2.08 days per calendar month of employment, totaling 25 days annually.

· Employees may carry over up to five days of unused holiday to the following holiday year.

· If these five days are not used, they must be automatically paid out by the employer at the beginning of the next holiday year.

· Any remaining unused holiday beyond the five-day limit must be transferred to the Danish Holiday Fund (Feriefonden) and cannot be reclaimed by the employee.

  • Termination:Employees are entitled to the following
    - One month's pay if they have worked for the employer for at least 12 years.
    - Three month's pay if they have worked for the employer for at least 17 years.
    Employees dismissed without cause who have been employed for at least one year are also entitled to compensation.
  • Sick leave: Employees covered by the Danish Salaried Employees Act (Funktionærloven) are generally entitled to full salary during sick leave.
